90年代はすごかったですか：「ワナダイズ」と「ロミオとジュリエット」とスウェデンのポップ

ワナダイズ

音楽の年について、たいてい80年代はいちばんの年だと思っています。しかし、90年代について考えていました。90年代、流行の音楽あまり好きじゃなかったですが、「The Wannadies ～ ワナダイズ」というバンドが好きでした。ワナダイズはちょっと「パワーポップ」なのに、このバンドのおかげで、ぼくはパンクロックのことを学びました。ワナダイズに興味があるから、「Exploding Hearts」と「The Boys」と「Dead Kennedys」のようなバンドに興味を持つようになっていました。ワナダイズの曲は楽しくて、とてもアイロンニカルな詞がありましたから。

KAP BAMBINO // DEVOTION

I'm at my favorite coffee shop, trying to study...but since their manager seems determined to force feed me the beige production and uninspired melodies of the new Madonna record, it seems like it's the perfect time to talk about some decent music.  Namely Kap Bambino's new record, "Devotion".

BEST OF 2K11

I know it's already March but here are my favorites of 2K11.  I was hoping you hadn't already heard too many of these but then maybe it'd be cool if you had and everyone was super into all this stuff.    My nature was already predisposed towards wierdo pop of a Japanese origin, and attempting to learn the language certainly hasn't helped me diversify... Anyway, I hope you will enjoy this stuff!!

The New (Plastic) World Order

Hey guys!  We have some radical news!  We are almost completely done recording our new, as of yet untitled, ep and we are about halfway through mixing/mastering it.  The ep will be 5 tracks long and will be our very first release.  Expect a new track completely free for download very very soon, with the rest of the ep dropping sometime in early 2012.

WHORE PROM DIGEST #7

Wow.  It's November already.  Summer is gone!!!  I am so stoked on it.  Cuz I hate people's feet in flip flops.  Anyways, there's been so much action at the Martime Hotel Caffe, where I DJ every Saturday and some Fridays.  It's been pure magic.  I saw a woman pee.  It was not seksi.  Also I was told by a customer that I should move my computer (which I DJ with) so that he could set his drink down.  AWESOME.  Let's talk about sweet jamz.

Whore Prom:  I dj every Saturday at the Maritime Hotel Caffe.  10pm - 2am.  The music is rad, the customers are douchebags.  I can't wait til winter when all the jerks that come here start wearing clothes again.  Though by then I may be blind.  Here are some highlights from last Saturday's set.

This week get stoked on five new singles released in the past month--M83 and Neon Indian get dreamy, Japanese weirdness from Urbangarde and Pizza Sushi, and Kap Bambino keeps things noisy (duh!)

This week we listen to a dreamy track off the upcoming Class Actress full length, drown in vocal effects and the more cartoon sounds of French pop kids DAT Politics, listen to the sound of two Canadians feeding Fat Bob another doughnut, mope about to some Swedish synth pop and finally...a latin freestyle revival?
